Issues to be Addressed

Curriculums per grade and per subject should be standard throughout all the schools and grades

This will ensure equal and consistent education throughout the board

A decrease in enrolment in schools located in older neighbourhoods in Peel is affecting school funding levels.

Per-pupil funding in the PDSB and DPCDSB is lower than in Toronto schools and below the provincial average.

Skills are in demand in workplaces after the completion of school.

Students would benefit greatly from learning such skills during school as part of their curriculum such as coding and public speaking.

Even brand new schools built in newer communities usually open with portable classrooms, indicating that the building cannot fit the population.

Portables are not the solution.

Newer schools have very few classes per grade with few children which increases operating costs.

Special Education Programs in Peel are underfunded and are difficult to apply for.

Waitlists are long, low availability, etc.

Not enough information about these programs is shared with the public.

Courses should be dispersed across the full year instead of splitting them into two semesters for high school students, specifically grades 9 and 10.

This change will encourage continued learning of a subject, and better prepare students for the next school year.

Due to schools using devices for most if not all activities, children have developed a dependency on devices.

It’s a distraction for kids as they are still developing their skills.

Kids from lower income families are at a disadvantage.

This is not beneficial to students as teachers must teach the curriculum for both grades which can confuse students and under prepare them.

It is also very difficult to thoroughly complete the curriculum of both grades in one full year.

Some schools do not have homework or very little homework.

Schools should provide adequate homework to their students to ensure that they understand the concepts well and continue to practice what they learned in school.
